Here’s a start to a multi-post blog regarding a recent construction project I was involved in. Back at the end of January I departed the dismal winter weather of home and headed to the big island of Hawai’i. Along with Mark and Yogi, we set off with a couple of goals. First we were to build a farm-workers quarters that would ultimately provide us with cover from the wind and rain. We employed a modified timber frame construction using Western Red Cedar, Alaskan Yellow Cedar and Port Orford Cedar. What a treat to have such great materials to work with. After we finished the basic structure we were on to are main goal. We needed to enclose the bottom of a timber frame building we assembled a few years ago and make it into a finished space. I will address each of these structures and methods over the next few post. In the meantime, enjoy some of the scenery.
Aloha & Mahalo,
Merle
